Camping Landgoed Kattenbergse Hoeve is an oasis of peace in the middle of the green region of Twente, in the province of Overijssel. This rural family campsite is located in a hilly and forested area, about two kilometers from Markelo.
Modern facilities
From a new swimming pool to a large playground: this campsite has all kinds of modern facilities. Children can splash around in the outdoor pool and play on the brand new play equipment. Take a short break? Relax on the beautifull playing field and enjoy of the wilderness of eastern Holland! During the high season an animation team will be providing the entertainment. Teenagers can enjoy themselves with football, the air trampoline and at the recreation room. Furthermore, the friendly family campsite has a bistro and a snackbar .Here you can enjoy a nice meal of drink a coffee on the terrace. The Kattenbergse Hoeve is also an ideal base for canoe and sport fishing enthusiasts: as "De Schipbeek" river flows past the estate.
Into nature
Of course there is plenty to experience during your camping holiday: the varied landscape filled with forests, heathland and farmland in Twente are ideal for hikers, cyclists, fishermen, bird watchers and even game spotters! Explore the rolling landscape of National Park De Sallandse Heuvelrug (17 km), the Twents Reggedal (12 km) and De Borkeld (6 km), perfect for bird watching, hiking and bike tours.
Culture
In the village of Markelo you will find various cozy terraces, the historic Martinus church and a 19th-century mill, the "Molen van Buursink-De Hoop", a national monument! In addition, the area offers beautiful farms and havezathen and romantic castles such as the Wegdam and Weldam.
Cycling & hiking
Hiking enthusiasts will feel at home at the Kattenberg and at the 40 meter high Markelose Berg. Traverse the area via the "Twentse Wallen-Markelo" walking route, voted as the nations best walking route of 2018! Mountain bikers can enjoy themselves at the MTB Route of Markelo, a 30-kilometer route with single tracks and around two hundred meters of altitude changes over the Markeloseberg and the Kattenberg, an amazing challenge! Up for even more challenge? Go mountain biking on the Rijssense MTB route. Up for a more peacefull ride? At the stables "Snorrewind" or "Barlo" in Markelo a horse or donkey can be rented for a fantastic ride on horseback.

Highly recommended is the nature reserve de Borkeld (6 km), a varied nature reserve between Holten and Rijssen where a beautiful herd of Drentsche heideschapen grazes. Here you can visit the information farm 'n Witten. From the farm a beautiful hiking trail leads to the Friezenberg, where you can look out over the beautiful heaths and admire the ancient burial mounds, recognizable by the 'bumps' in the landscape.
Discover bustling cities? For nice shops, fine restaurants and interesting museums, visit Enschede (36 km) or Hengelo (25 km), where you can find Rijksmuseum Twenthe and Museum Hengelo. Hanseatic city Deventer is rich in art and culture: from the colorful Toy Museum to the beautiful Bolwerksmolen and the Proosdij in the Sandrasteeg, the oldest stone house in the Netherlands.
A nice day out with the kids? Go to Hellendoorn Adventure Park , where 30 hidden attractions, beautiful shows and adventurous events await you, hidden in the forests of Hellendoorn (35 minutes by car). At Museum Buurtspoorweg you can experience a wonderful ride in an old-fashioned steam train and also at Recreatiepark Het Hulsbeek in Oldenzaal (35 minutes by car) children can have fun for hours: in the play forest there are more than 20 cool play equipment.
Bad weather? Go to the covered children's play paradise Monkey Town in Almelo, where kids can enjoy climbing, scrambling, jumping and taking a ride in an old-fashioned merry-go-round. Prefer to play, swim, play football and go-karting? Go to Sports and Experience Center De Scheg in Deventer! Here the little ones play princely on a tropical island.
