5-star campsite with fantastic location
Knaus Campingpark Eschwege is a 5-star camping park with a fantastic location , on a peninsula between the Werra and Werratalsee. The site is separated from the sunbathing area and lake by a small private road. Camping Eschwege has been awarded several times by the ADAC (the German AA) to supercamping.
With surfing, sailing, canoeing and fishing, among other things, there are plenty of water sport possibilities at the lake, in addition you can enjoy the sandy beach on the lake. In addition to swimming in the lake, you can swim approx. 3 km from Campingpark Eschwege in a indoor swimming pool . In addition, there are plenty of facilities to practice other sports and games. At about 600 meters there are a number of tennis courts, you can also play minigolf at about 700 meters and at about 500 meters there is a riding school. At the camp site you still have the opportunity to play table tennis and volleyball. For children there is also a playground at camping Eschwege.
At about 800 meters from the campsite you can rent a bike, with which you can cycle on the fantastic bike paths (eg the Werratalfietspad). Nature lovers can also go for one of the hiking trails, the approx. 7 km long Seerundweg is a must-see for every nature lover. Just relax? There is a relaxation area at camping Eschwege, where you can relax. For a snack you can go to the restaurant on the campsite.
Attention:
The JohannisFest Festival will take place in the city of Eschwege from 26 to 30 June 2025. This is not on the campsite itself, but you may experience noise nuisance.
From August 6 to August 10, 2025 is the Open Flair festival (rock festival). The festival will take place a few 100 meters from the campsite, you may experience noise pollution from this .
During festival weekends, no additional tents or cars are allowed near the tents.

What can you do in the vicinity of Knaus Campingpark Eschwege?
It is only a 10-minute walk to the center of the approx. 1000-year-old Eschwege. The medieval city center with its authentic half-timbered houses and pedestrian zone is certainly worth it. During the year there are also numerous events where the music festival "Open Flair" in August is certainly the most important. Eschwege is located on the Werratal cycle route from Hann. Münden to Eisenach (about 50 km), known for the Wartburg where Luther in the 16th century the Bible translated. Beautiful walking routes take you through the internal German border area to which Eschwege and its surrounding villages belong.
