Where can I find information about a (possible) calamity or disaster at my holiday destination or campsite?
At Rent-a-Tent, we do everything to ensure that your holiday runs smoothly. However, we do not have control over some matters such as a severe weatherconditions (storm) political disturbances, a (forest) fire or an earthquake at your holiday destination. Of course we always keep a close eye on such situations,. We are in contact with our own Rent-a-Tent couriers on the campsite and with the campingreceptions of the campsites in Europe.
How do I receive information for (short) departure?
When we receive information from the destination or campsite that your holiday may be affected by such a calamity or cannot continue, we will of course inform you as soon as possible. How we inform you depends on the nature of the calamity and your departure date. Our reservations department will inform you by e-mail or telephone. We would like to point out that the possibility of booking or canceling the holiday in a tent or mobile home free of charge before departure is determined by calamity and depends on various factors, including the travel advice from the Ministry.
UPDATE 1st April 2020:
Campsites in the Netherlands
Due to the new measures, Rent-a-Tent will adjust the opening date of campsites in the Netherlands in terms of arrival date to April 29. Exceptions are camping de Pekelinge (Zeeland) to opening May 12, Roompot Hunzedal and Roompot Callassande to opening June 02.
Guests with a reservations already made with arrival between April 17 and April 28 with a stay on a campsite in the Netherlands, will be personally informed by our reservation team about the status of the reservation. These guests may change their reservation to a later date, different destination or receive the already paid travel sum in the form of a Rent-a-Tent voucher for redeeming on a new reservation in 2020 or 2021.
Reservations for camp site de Pekelinge until 11 May and camp sites Roompot Hunzedal and Roompot Callassande until 1 June will also receive a personal message from our reservation team about the possibility to change.
We closely monitor the situation abroad on a daily basis. As the Dutch government and foreign governments temporarily advise against traveling, the Rent-a-Tent reservation team will personally inform all reservations already made with arrivals between April 17 and May 2 with a destination abroad about the status of the reservation. These guests may change their reservation to a later date, different destination or receive the already paid travel sum in the form of a Rent-a-Tent voucher for redeeming on a new reservation in 2020 or 2021.
Current situation in Europe
We advise our guests to wait patiently for the time being, however difficult this may be. The situation is now too uncertain to make decisions for holidays in June, July or August. We follow the current affairs just like you daily, but given the measures and the speed of the changed measures, we cannot look forward more than 6 weeks. Considering all measures and lockdowns, planning our construction activities is also complex. We advise you to wait for your camping holidays from May 1 to the end of the season. If this advice for your reservation changes so much approx. 3 weeks before arrival, we as a company will contact you personally and offer you a suitable solution. Current developments around the Corona virus and how it affects society are moving very fast. At Rent-a-Tent we do our utmost to anticipate these developments as well as possible, and in particular with regard to camping holidays.
The campsites on our website are still accessible from the current opening date. We closely monitor the situation for you and our health and safety every day, including logistical matters such as sending a camp site manager before your arrival and the construction of tents by our montage teams in Europe. If the situation changes for a specific campsite, we will check the opening date of our campsites and any reservations made and, if necessary, look for personal and appropriate solutions with our guests and contact you personally by phone or email to to inform you and to you help.
For reservations arriving in May, June, July and August there is currently no reason to cancel as it is more than 30 to 130 days before arrival. We advise you to wait for the situation and hope that we can go on holiday again, that is our intention in all possible ways. A change of your booking to another time period or destination is possible in consultation with the reservation department. Consider possible change costs and / or additional payments.

UPDATE 16th March, 2020:
The Coronavirus has now reached many European countries. Entry bans exist for a large number of countries. At Rent-a-Tent, we investigate the consequences of this decisions and will report this adjusted color code as soon as possible.
UPDATE 09th March, 2020:
Color code red now applies to various Northern Italian regions. At the request of the RIVM and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, travel to Northern Italy is currently not recommended. The presence of the Corona virus has since been confirmed in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France and Italy.
Rent-a-Tent follows the current situation and news coverage. As there is currently no red or negative travel advice code issued for the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Austria and Croatia at our (local) travel destinations through the Ministry, Rent-a-Tent uses the regular and current booking conditions. For Italy, Rent-a-Tent will analyze the current situation and will receive information about this on our website as soon as possible.

Advice France, Belgium and Germany

Our accommodations will be open from April 17, 2020 and our rental accommodations are all currently closed and there has not been any assembly yet. Currently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has submitted the following travel advice on Italy. Rent-a-Tent follows the current situation and news coverage daily. From the Italian municipality of Vo` Euganeo (near Padova region) is approximately 80 kilometers (camping Rosapineta) and from the municipality of Castiglione d'Adda is approximately 115 kilometers away (camping Tiglio and camping Bella Italia) and camping Cisano / San Vito at approximately 128 kilometers from these places. As there is currently no red or negative travel advice code issued by the Ministry, Rent-a-Tent uses the regular and current booking conditions
The following provisional opening dates are current in the Rent-a-Tent offer:

UPDATE, 26th February, 2020:
Currently you cannot travel to the following municipalities in northern Italy, in the province of Lombardy, an entry and exit ban applies to the following municipalities: Casalpusterlengo, Codogno, Castiglione d'Adda, Fombio, Maleo, Somaglia , Bertonico, Terranova dei Passerini, Castelgerundo and San Fiorano. Do not travel to these municipalities.
In the province of Padova do not travel to the municipality: Vo
Euganeo. The access roads are checked. In certain areas, major public events have been canceled and public institutions (such as museums but also schools and universities) temporarily closed. From the Italian municipality of Vo Euganeo (near Padova region) is approximately 80 kilometers (camping Rosapineta) and from the municipality of Castiglione d'Adda is approximately 115 kilometers away (camping Tiglio and camping Bella Italia) and camping Cisano / San Vito at approximately 128 kilometers from these places.
There is no negative travel advice for the municipalities where the campsites are located at this moment and so the normal booking conditions remain active.
UPDATE 24th February, 2020:
There are currently reports of the corona virus in Europe, particularly in Italy, which currently places acute restrictions on health care for the local population. We closely follow the messages and news coverage about the situation. So far, no negative travel advice has been issued for this by the Ministry.
The majority of our (tent) accommodations will open on April 17, 2020 and up to about ten to fourteen days in advance there are no Rent-a-Tent employees on site. We keep our Rent-a-Tent campsitemanagers and tent builders informed through our own and internal reporting. If necessary we are also in contact with the campsites and receptions in Italy. What about the already made booking:
Currently, already made reservations, Italy in particular, cannot be canceled free of charge. Rebooking and/or changing depends on your booked accommodation and destination. If you wish to book to another campsite, accommodation or destination, for example in the Benelux or France, this is possible after verification of availability for the same travel time, but administrative costs may be charged for this, and depends on your booked accommodation and destination.
I have made a reservation, what happens to it now?
At this time, your reservation can continue as normal. Should the traveladvice change for your campsite or destination shortly before arrival, our reservation department will inform you personally by phone or email about your reservation, the current situation and, if applicable, will find a suitable solution with you.
Can I cancel because of the Coronavirus?
Currently, the regular bookingconditions apply, until the actual openingdates of our accommodations. Rent-a-Tent follows the reports and assesses per day, per campsite and number of reservations which measures must be taken for the safety and health of our guests. However, within normal terms and conditions and at least 5 days before arrival. For reservations with arrival in May, June, July and August, there is currently no reason to cancel because it is still more than 30 to 130 days before arrival. You can change your booking to another period or destination in consultation with our reservationdepartment..
Can I still book for a camping holiday?
Yes, you can make a reservation for a camping holiday. Daily, reservations are also made via the website and with our international touroperators. All campsites on our website are currently still accessible from the set openingdate. We also keep a close eye on logistics matters such as sending a manager couple prior to your arrival and the construction of the tents by our constructionteams in Europe. If the situation changes that much, we will look at the openingdate of our campsites and reservations and look for solutions with our guests if applicable.
How will Rent-a-Tent now build the tents?
We currently have constructionteams in Europe working at destinations and campsites where the color code green and yellow is in effect. We ensure the safety and health of our employees. In order to ensure that the start of the new campingseason runs as smoothly as possible, construction will continue as far as possible in destinations where there is no Coronavirus. The constructionteams naturally take the necessary precautions. As a result, Rent-a-Tent regulates the work of the constructionteams on campsites where construction can and may be carried out.
What precautions does Rent-a-Tent currently take?
Rent-a-Tent has now taken measures at our rural office in Markelo, the Netherlands, to safeguard the situation for our departments and has instructed employees to work partly at home. The messages from the Dutch government and RIVM (National Institute for Public Health and the Environment) both in the Netherlands and abroad, are continuously monitored in order to keep as optimally informed as possible about the most current situation. Subsequently, action is taken according to the current situation and/or precautionary measures are taken, such as the later opening of accommodations at campsites in Europe.
