Beautiful campsite in Southern Harz: KNAUS Walkenreid
On the outskirts of the small city of Walkenried, lies the 4-star campsite Knaus Campingpark Walkenried. The campsite is located in the southern part of the Harz, where one can enjoy the beautiful, green surroundings. The campsite is adjacent to several cycling and hiking routes around the Harz. You will find more than 200 km of cycling and hiking trails in the entire Harz region. The hilly, green environment also frames your comfortable bungalowtent, giving you that natural, holiday feeling.
At the campsite there is a heated, indoor pool. In addition, there is a nice natural swimming pond about 2 km from Campingpark Walkenried. Right at the campsite you can unwind at the sauna or enjoy a massage (both for a fee). For the children there is a nice playground and in the high season children's animation is present. Of course, there is a table tennis table, volleyball court and football field at the campsite, the classic camping sports.
Do you want a challenge, or to try something new during your holiday? At about 16 km from camping Walkenried you can sail, surf or go diving. These are just a few of the many active options in the neighborhood. For the adventurers there is a bike park with 7 runs 18 km from the campsite.
You will be in the center of the air spa resort Walkenried, which is best known for its Cistercian abbey (absolutely worth a visit) with a 10-minute walk.

The cultural highlight of your holiday is only about 1.5 km from the campsite, here you will find the Zisterzienser Museum in Kloster Walkenried. A beautiful abbey that was built around 1127 by Countess Adelheid van Klettenberg.
